Bikkanda Humman / Jackfruit Seeds Curry Konkani Style

1/2 tbsp

Salt

For grinding

Preparations :

  1. Peel off the skin of jackfruit seeds  and wash well. Boil in a pressure cooker taking 4 whistles and keep aside.
  2. Prepare masala for the humman by grinding grated coconut, roasted dry red chillies, salt and tamarind. Add water to make a fine paste.  Place the masala in a bowl and add a glass of water in a blender, retain the masala water in a separate bowl.
  3. Transfer boiled jackfruit seeds into a vessel along with its boiled water and cook in a medium flame.
  4. Add grounded masala along with retained masala water, let the consistency of humman be thick.
  5. You have to cook approximately 10-12 minutes in a medium flame. Once cooked remove from the heat.
  6. Add asafoetida and oil and mix well. You will get a nice aroma of asafoetida which is the main ingredient of this tasty humman.  
  7. Serve hot along with Shevai/ Idli/ Neer Dosa or rice.
